Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

My old aparetment complex is charging me 600.00 for a new refridgerator. I questioned the charge and requested to speak with the manager. 2 weeks and 4 emails later she finally called me. I was told she would call me the following Monday and she never did. this was 3 weeks ago. I just sent another email asking for some sort of communication from the complex and stated that failure to do so would result in the understanding that the dept has been forgiven and no further collection method will be taken by the apartment or a third party. Did I do the right thing? What should I have done?

If your apartment came with a refrigerator (i.e., was supposed to be provided as part of your rental agreement), then it is up to the landlord, not you, to replace the unit - at the landlord's cost, not yours! Your situation sounds fishy.
