Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

My Old Apartment Ruined My Credit

I paid my rent but the check did not go thru 2 days later when I did pay it was too the apartment had already filed an eviction and I would have to go to court. Since they did receive the payment the charges were dropped and I continued to live there. Two years later I find out that my credit has been ruined. When you check my credit it reads ''eviction''. What can I do? I don't think this is right.

Dispute it in writing with each of the credit reporting agencies. IT is not the apartment complex's fault. Somebody working for one of the credit reporting agencies saw the eviction filed against you and jumped the gun, reporting it as granted when it wasn't. You might want to obtain a complete copy of the file from the JP Court to show no judgment was entered.
