Apartments charging damages after saying there was none.

I leased an apartment completed the lease apartments charged my credit for damages when they gave me a letter stating that no outstanding balance was owed. Can they still legally charging me for these damages?

Your security deposit was there for damages and apartments have 30 days to refund or claim for damages..so if you left it after completing lease..you should have checked with them on condition..yes, they can charge...but you could protest..
