Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Can an appeal be made

After a judgement has been rendered by the court summary can an appeal be made by using a different attorney. Also will the collection/assest search stop until motions are made and presented to the court by the new attorney. Is there a time limit once judgement is made to make the motion for an appeal?

Re: Can an appeal be made

An appeal can be made by any attorney so long as it's within the time the court retains jurisdiction; normally within 30 days after judgment is signed. 10 days in Justice Court or Small Claims Court.

In order to stop collection efforts during appeal, you would have to file a "supercedeas" bond in twice the amount of the judgment.
