Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
A former apt. complex we rented from is trying to get $ 2600 from us, they call it fair, I call it ridiculous. We moved out 1 month prior to the end of our 6 month lease, as told to the debt collection agency that called, I said I knew I left 1 month early and would pay, 1100, which was the monthly rent. The person at the debt collection agency said they would settle for 75% which was $ 1900 and something, I said no because we had repeatedly asked for repairs, reported drug dealers and users withing 50 feet of our door and they did nothing, I told the person at the collection agency this and was informed that it's my fault I lived in a bad area, I should have done better research. I have children, I don't want them in that environment, would you ? Do I have any recourse? or is this what I should expect.

If u put requests for repair in writng/kept a copy...and other problems..you should have proof to win in Court, IF they sue..which they probably will not do...and I don't know if you could sue them, but I doubt it..
