Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

auto insurance

I had a 6 mth policy, paying month to month, and stopped payment when my fiance added me to his policy. I told my new insurance agent that I still had 3 mths left on my policy, and I was told that I do not have to let a company know that I am cancelling for any reason. No payment will result in a dropped policy. My former insurance agency is now sending me to collections to collect payment for several months, even though I no longer am insured with them, nor do I wish to obtain insurance with their company. Is this legal?

Re: auto insurance

Generally, insurance policies are written contracts. As such, you will need to go a read the specific terms of your agreement. Within the agreement, there may be language to indicate what the remedies are in case of default, non-payment, or cancellation. If my law firm can assist you with this legal issue or any other legal matter, please contact my legal assistant Jennifer ([email protected]).
