Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Avoiding Process of Service

I have been sued (not sure by who, probably a credit card company over an unpaid debt).

Does it behoove me to avoid process of service as long as possible? If so, how long can I avoid it?

Actually, I don't think you accomplish much of anything by avoiding service. They will file an affidavit with the court to get substituted service, then proceed to a judgment without input from you, and you won't know about it until it is too late.

There may be defects with the lawsuit, and by being served and apprised of the basis of the suit, you can get a legal opinion, and proceed from there.
