Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Getting back money owed

I got a friend a cell phone under my name to help her out when she moved to texas. She let the bill go $1200 into collections. I have offered to work with her but now she won't even return my calls. When I went down there to help her move I also was promised a plane ticket home which she, after I was there, was unable to provide. I had to pay my own way home, another $200. I really don't know where to start with this and need a push in the right direction. I would also like to know if I have any time restraints on this because over a year has passed since I was in Texas but our communications have only ceased recently.

Re: Getting back money owed

You can always sue her, within four years of when she was to pay you back. It's probable that she's broke, and Texas is a debtor's haven.
