Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Bill Payment

I have been making monthly payments on a hospital bill we have. I have made payments at the same time every month and have not missed a payment. They turned our bill over to a collection agency and now that agency is harrassing us. Is this legal?

Re: Bill Payment

You can send a letter to the collection agency telling them to cease and desist from communicating with you at all, that, as is your right under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, you prefer to deal with the original creditor. Send the letter certified mail, return receipt requested, send a copy to the hospital. Then just keep sending your payments to the hospital.
