Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Bill reported late because of Military deployment

I have recently come back from Iraq. There was an unsettled bill with my cable company that i did not have time to take care of before the deployment. I did not have the resources (lines of communication) To pay the bill while deployed. I did pay it three days after i made it back to the states. Came back on a sunday. I paid it in full but was told that it was already reported to the credit agencies. What do i have to do and do i have any legal right to get this removed.

Re: Bill reported late because of Military deployment

I would send a written dispute to all three credit reporting agencies with a copy to the cable company along with a copy of your orders, citing the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and requesting that it be immediately deleted. Also, send copy of your driver's license and SSN# card to prove identity. Send letter certified mail, return receipt requested. They have a duty to investigate. Although I am not a big fan of the credit reporting agencies, I would think for a returning soldier, your dispute would get at least a little bit more attention. Thanks for your service.
