Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Old Bounced Check

I had a check bounce in 1998. I was never notified about the check. In October of 2006 I received a letter saying that I would not be able to renew my liscense and that I had a Penal Code Offense and that I had failed to pay for a judgement for this violation. At no time have I received anything on this check. I had to file for bankruptcy in 1999. Will this also take care of this check and is there a statute of limitations for someone to pursue a bad check.

Re: Old Bounced Check

Bankruptcy does erase criminal charges. SOL does not apply if charges were already filed and the case adjudicated. It sounds like the check amount was for under $20 (class C misdemeanor) and you didn't pay the fine.
