Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

buisness failure

I was involved in a buisness venture about 2 years ago and I

did invest some money about 10 thousand dollars and the buisness took a downtern and I am left here having to foot the bill. my partner ended up filing bankruptcy and unable to help with the bills. The bills are credit cards in my own name.my question is that I

want to know if I have a legitimate complaint that my partner and I had a verbale agreement that He was going to help with my personal debt. The entire reason that the buisness started was because I

lent my good credit for the buisness.Incidently, we started up as partners and change to cooperation.Without going into bankruptcy is there a way to resolve my debt and not be considered liable to the buisness failure.
