Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Business Debt
I opened a credit card account for a business. The card was a business account. I was not the owner. However they needed someone to sign the application. The company is no longer in business and did not pay the bill. I have been contacted by a debt collector company. I had no knowledge that the account had not been paid. Would I be required to pay the debt off.
Thanks

Re: Business Debt
Supplying false information to obtain credit is a criminal offense. Better pay off the debt and learn from the experience.

Your name, your debt.
Re: Business Debt
The previous responses are correct if you signed in an individual capacity and for an unincorporated business. If the business was incorporated, and you signed in your capacity as an officer of the corporation, then you may escape liability. TCL
