Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I got a call from a law office saying i owed a company $5800 and i expalined i had no money to pay for it but I was willing to make payments they said they would cut the debt to help I said i still couldnt afford it the original company said they were going to send it to collections but according to them they sent to them instead is the lawyer acting as a coolection agency and tryin to scare me about sending me to court they are in California Im in Texas?

Stop talking to these people. You're right, they're trying to scare money out of you. If they call again, tell them you aren't going to pay the debt. No matter what they say, keep telling them you aren't going to pay the debt. And then get off the phone. Don't promise them anything. Don't plead with them,don't argue with them, don't reason with them.

Nothing is going to happen. They aren't oing to sue you.
