Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I got a call from Yamaha saying I owe them $17,000. The statute of limitations for my state is 4 years. It has been at least 6 years since I've heard from them. Legally, what do I need to do?

First...did Yamaha call or a collector. In either case, do nothing until it comes in writing. But if

you are sued, be sure to answer and deny the claim..
