Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Car Co-Signing

Should I decide to co-sign for my 23 year old daughter a car and she does not make the payments or continues to be late with payments...what legal avenues beside making the payments on the vehicle she is driving myself? Can I have the car impounded and sell it without any problems from her? What are my legal rights should she not fulfill her obligations? Thank you for your consideration.

Re: Car Co-Signing

If you co-sign for the car you will have 100% legal responsibility for all indebtedness.

If you co-sign, you better be a joint owner on the title or you will have no rights.

If you are a joint owner you may impound the car and/or sell it at your option, but only if you can do so without your daughter's signature. That will depend upon how the title reads.
