Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

car payment

For three years now i have been paying for a car a relative bought for me with a credit card to come wisconsin to find a job. I have been working and living in wisconsin. I have had medical problems and been off work so I have not been able to send the money as before. The relative now wants the car back and wants me to bring it back to Texas or give it to someone going there ...They have also threatened to come and take it. Again, I have been paying on yhis for the last three years. over 6000 dollars but i am being told that there is still a outstanding balance on the credit card! Do i have any legal rights to the car. The car is not in my name .

Re: car payment

Hello,

Unfortunately I do not have enough facts here to give you an opinion you can rely on. To get that, you would have to consult a lawyer and give them more facts. I will say that with the title not being in your name, that is a big problem. Your only rights to the car likely are to pay what is owing and then you will get the title. How much is owing? Is the balance on the credit card all from the car, or have they added some for other things? How do you know if they have or have not? How often were you supposed to pay? Best wishes, Mark J.
