car reposession

if i voluntarily give my car back to the finance company. and they auction it off. and i am unable to pay off the remaining balance, can the finance company put a lien against my house that i am buying. i did homestead this property i am buying. thanks adam

They can take a judgment against you for the unpaid balance, then file an abstract of judgment that will put a lien on your property. They can't force the sale of a homestead, but the lien can be awkward.
