Car Repossession

What are the laws relating to car repossession in Texas? Especially how do they notify the consumer? Any advance notice?

Re: Car Repossession

If there was advanced notice, people would hide the vehicle to avoid repossession.

You'll receive notice after the repo, letting you know where you can pick up your personal possessions that were in the vehicle, how much it will cost for you to regain your vehicle, and by what date that must be paid or the vehicle will be sold.

Re: Car Repossession

There is no requirement for advance notice for repossession of a vehicle in Texas. Once the car is repossessed, they are supposed to send you a letter telling you so, where you can retrieve any personal belongings which may be in the vehicle, tell you the amount that must be paid to retrieve the vehicle and the deadline by which it must be paid.
