Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Car Title

I bought a used car from a ''mom and pop'' dealer in Texas. I moved to Utah and the first payment I mailed to them was ''returned to sender'' Upon investigating, the company had gone out of business and I can't find any information on who or what happened to my loan. I have been trying to find out what I need to do for almost 18 mo. The Utah DMV requires a copy of current registration, but of course in being bounced back between sections of the TX DMV it has expired. Now I can't register it and I am unable to get the title. Can anyone help me?

Re: Car Title

Contact Utah DMV -- ask them for a bonded title procedure. The lien will still be listed, but at least you can register the vehicle. At this rate, you will not be able to acquire title to the car unless you deposit the sum of money on the car into the court's registry and get a court order releasing the lien.
