Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Next Card Credit Card
Next Card Credit Card went into bankruptcy.
Now that they have filed bankruptcy and
and closed my account, am I still held responsible
for the full amount I owe them, plus interest
they are charging me every month?
I currently owe them $6,000. My interest
rate was very low before they closed down and
after they closed my account because of their
filing bankruptcy. They raised my interest rate
to almost 19 percent. They said there was nothing
I can do by accept it and pay the bill. Is there anything
I can do about the high interest they are charging me?
I cannot afford to payoff the amount in full, just able
to make monthly payments.

Re: Next Card Credit Card
You remain responsible for your debt.
You'd have to look at the credit card agreement to see whether they have the right to raise the interest rate or not. That's a matter of the contract you entered into with them.
