Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Was caught shoplifting from an employer. Was not charged with a criminal charge but asked to pay restitution. I payed completely but now am being contacted by Palmer, Reifler, & Assoc. saying i owe a civil penalty fee under the Texas Theft Liability Act. Is this legal? Do i need to pay it to avoid criminal charges?

Tell them to go to hell. They're just trying to squeeze extra money out of you. Stick with the original agreement you had (to pay restitution).
