Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Cell phone collection bill

I signed a 2 year contract in 2003 for a cell phone for my granddaughter, whose credit made it impossible for her to get a phone on her own.

I am now being billed by a collection agency for $1001. My granddaughter said that her boyfriend cloned the phone and fraudently made the calls. Since the contract expired a year ago, am I still responsible for the bill. They threatened a judgment against me. What does a judgment do. I am 74 years old and I am a retired with a small pension from government service and I receive VA compensation from the military inservice death of my husband. What do I do?
