Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
citation served
I recently received a citation for debt on a credit card i had before i remarried .i have not used it at anytime since or has my present wife every used it.We have always been responsible for our own finances, recently though we have started a joint account.
Can she be held in any way accountable for this debt or any other debt i incured before we married (Such as freezing our account,or garnishing wages)

Re: citation served
Not unless she agreed to be responsible for it. There is no garnishment of wages in Texas by ordinary creditors (only the IRS or child support)
There are defenses to such suits if you hire an attorney who handles these type cases. Also, the statute of limitations for suit on a debt in Texas is four years.
