Cleaning my Credit up

When can a bad hit such as collection account be removed from my credit report. Its been 6 plus yrs and the account keeps getting bought out from company to company.. Does this mean the Statue of Limitations starts over every time.. since the account is considered revolving(collection)

The statute of limitations for suit on a debt in Texas is 4 years. A debt may be reported on your credit report for 7 years from the date of last activity.
