Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

can a collection agency put something on your credit without your social?

Can a collection agency put something on your credit report without your correct name and social security number. They are also calling and harrassing me at my job. I have asked them not to contact me at work. What can I do?

Write to the collection agency by certified mail, return receipt requested, telling them to not call you. In fact, you can instruct them not to contact you, period! You're best off by instructing them that all subsequent communications are to be in writing. That way you can still negotiate a payout or compromise and have a written confirmation of any agreement.
