Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Collection Agency

United Processing is harrassing me. They called and said that I committed fraud and that there has been warrant issued in my name. When I tried to call him back I couldn't reach anyone. He called my parents and told them that I owe money and that if they don't pay it they would be held liable and will go to jail too. He also gave out my social security number to my parents and my address all my personal information. If this wasn't my parents anyone could have used that information of mine. My mom was even denying that I was her daughter and he still gave her this information. When he calls me he doesn't call me by my name he says my social security number and then asks if this is my number. What if it wasn't me? He also gave me the name Martin King, but he sounds like a asian guy or an indian. I stopped taking his calls because when I asked for the companies address so that I could send him a letter stop contacting me by phone, he wouldn't give out that information. He also would not tell me what is that I owed and from what company I owed this too, but he told my mom how much I owed. What can I do? Has this guy violated my rights? I mean him giving out my ss # makes me very mad!

Re: Collection Agency

Legally any company he represents could be liable..so ask if you could send payment to him and the creditor..be calm..but DO NOT send anything..It may be a scam...if yu find the name of the creditor..it could be liable for damages and statutory penalties plus attorney fees..

Practically..hang up when you hear his voice..if you can't get the above done..
