Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

collection of foreign debt without a court order

I have outstanding debts in a foreign country that a US debt collector is trying to collect. I have no court orders in my country of origin and none can be issued there because I am no longer resident there. Can I be sued for this debt in the US without a court order from abroad? It's a few thousand dollars credit card debt. Is it likely that the bank in my country of origin will sue in a US court?

Thanks for your time.

Re: collection of foreign debt without a court order

If the debt is less than four years old, you can sue him on the debt as a new lawsuit.

If not, you can't collect on a foreign judgment without court orders.
