can a company make you post date checks

fema said i owe them the money that i receved from a storm but i cashed the check before thay said a thing thay held two tax returns and the credit recovery wants me to post date them checks for 6 months from feb. to aug. can they make me post date checks to them evenen thow i told them that i'll pay every month the amount that i owe

No, and postdated checks often cause a problem when the maker forgets about them 6 months later. Stand your ground and send them a monthly payment.
