Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Co-Signed On a Truck That Has Been Repossessed
I co-signed with my ex-boyfriend on a truck last year, and then within months, we broke up. He has not paid his payments since August of 2007, and I have been working with the loan company to track him down so they could get the truck back. Last week they repossessed the truck, and now it looks like I am stuck with the remaining amount of the loan. During the time that I co-signed with him, he was a very abusive man, emotionally and physically (in fact I had to wear glasses to the dealership to hide my black eyes). Is there any legal defense that can remove me from owing on this loan? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Co-Signed On a Truck That Has Been Repossessed
Sorry. It was not the dealer that caused the black eyes. You could join the dealer in the upcoming lawsuit against you for the deficiency by including your boyfriend and then taking a judgment against him. Maybe you could predict his reaction to that. Good Luck.
