Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Credir Card Debt

I was contacted yesterday about a debt i owed. I asked questions yesterday and the lawyer told me to get someting in writing or tape him so i decided to get it in writing. He offered to email it to me which honestly sounds unprofessional to me but I agreed with it and for him to also send me a letter that would get here before friday. When I told him that I wanted everything he had told me he kind of stammered and said he would. He asked me if I wanted it to include the settlement he gave or the deadline of friday and I told him both. The debt was initially 1100 and now its 2300. He said they would settle with 1300 . I told him I coulnt get that much by Friday he told me to try to get 1000. He kept asking me if I was staing that I wasnt going to pay off the debt and I told him no. Did I do the right thing by telling him no? They said that they would send papers to my county to sue me for the debt owed. I have no idea what to do.

Re: Credir Card Debt

It was probably NOT a lawyer..and if you did tape the call, you may have a good case. But many wrongs are in the call...so don't ruin your position by paying anything..
