Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Credit card debt

I have about a 7,000 debt with Bank of America credit card that was charged off in 2003. They have called my job asking if they can send a processor to summons me to court. Fortunately, the my job will not allow them to come onto the premises. I have a 2006 Honda that I am paying for...that's pretty much it...I reside in the state of TX..can you tell me what they can do to me?????

Please help!

Re: Credit card debt

Odd..most credit cards have arbitration now..but if they sue within 4 years of last payment, they will get a judgment plus attorney fees if you don't fight it..and if you have nothing, they will seek discovery of bank accounts, nonexempt property, etc..so fight the suit..avoiding process servers merely delays the time...and the fact the"wrote off" a debt does not eliminate the debt...good luck..and call a local lawyer
