credit card debt

mother {83} in nursing home for 3 years. credit card in her name (only). is father {84} responsible legally to pay for her credit card debt? can her credit card hurt his credit? will bank consider settle for lower payoff rather than default or possible bankruptcy or? thank you

No credit card debt does not affect husband..and it is not worth it to bankrupt her..DO NOT agree to any obligation to bank..but if she has money, she would pay...so if bank will settle for less..they would be better off.call and see..but they generally wait and claim against estate..hoping for assets..
