Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Credit Card Debt

I quit paying on my credit card in 2004. When my ex left me, I could no longer afford to make the payments. Now, I've been sent a letter from a lawyer telling me that unless I pay the $3,000 in 35 days, they will take me to court.

I'm a single mom, and receive some state assistance, as I don't make alot of money. I cannot afford to do this. I was told they could garnish my wages also. I'm scared and don't know what to do.

Re: Credit Card Debt

I can't believe a lawyer told you he could garnish your wages. Sue, yes..and they may get a judgment..but if they sue, you could answer and perhaps win. Do not renew the debt by paying a little..Pay if you have the full amount...do not be scared..
