If a debt is more than 4 years old,can it be kept active by selling it to other agencies or law firms?

No. Only your payments or purchases can keep the card active. If you have been sued for a credit card debt that is more than 4 years old, contact an attorney. If you want my assistance, contact me by email.

No. IF they are suing on a time-barred debt, that is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. You need to hire an attorney to defend you on the case and to file against them for the Fair Debt violation.
