Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

credit card use

My ex-mom in law let me use her citibank credit card and I have always made the payments on it. Her son and I had a falling out and we no loner speak to each other. Can she say I used her card illegally? I have had a balance transfer on it since 2002 and have always made paymetns to it, I owe 8K, I am scared she might say fraud? I have proof that she has always helped me in thepast, my first car was co-signed by her 10 years ago. She has lived with me before, bank account together, etc. I can prove that but all I have is a verbal agreement with her 5 years ago that it was OK to sue her Citibank due to life low balance transfer rate. Can I go to jail foir this if she said she never authorized me to use her card?

Re: credit card use

With the proof and circumstances you have described, I cannot imagine any cop or DA willing to take this case. On the other hand, since the relationship has soured, it would be smart to stop using the card, and just continue to pay off the balance. Even better, if your credit has improved, to transfer the balance to a new card in your name.
