Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

what is credit card fraud

My son used one of his sisters credit cards without her knowledge to pay a friends cell phone bill. When the bill came we disputed it without knowing he used it. The charge was taken off. Now the person that he paid their bill is now calling him and her cell phone was cut off. She told the cell phone company his name and that he had paid the bill and the phone company told her that now they will come after him for fraud. Now that I know that he used the card what can be done by the credit card company as well as the cell phone company to my son?

Re: what is credit card fraud

If I understand correctly, the friend did not pay her own cell phone bill, and now is complaining. She needs to pay her own bill, it is not your problem or your daughter's problem. Your son stole from your daughter. It is unlikely that there is a criminal charge in this set of circumstances. You can rescue your son and pay the credit card company, explaining the 'mistake'. Or you can let him learn a valuable lesson, and let him deal with the collection issue.
