Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Credit Card Issue

Hi, I found your info on the internet and was wondering if you could help with a credit card issue. My wife is unemployed, just had a baby, and we bought a new house 5 months ago. She has 5 or 6 credit cards totaling about $20,000 in debt. The largest debt on any one card is $6000, the smallest is $500. She is unable to carry on paying these bills. I am the husband and not listed as an authorized user on any of her cards. Will her creditors go after me because we are married? The debt she incurred was after our marriage in June 2005. We live in TEXAS

Re: Credit Card Issue

It is theoretically possible. It's not likely. Unless you have some oil wells or stock market portfolios with oil company stocks, it doesn't side like you have a lot of cash or non-exempt real property to satisfy a judgment. Try to relax and quit answering or talking to them on the phone. You have a baby to take care of. Good Luck.
