Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

credit card judgement

After trying to re-finance my home, I have found out there is a judgement against me from a credit card debt. This judement is somehow related to the title to my home. Can you tell me what this means and what I could do about this? does bankruptcy clear a judgement of this type? Thank you for any info you could provide me with!

Re: credit card judgement

The judgment is not really related to the title to your house. In Texas, your house is protected from creditors by a homestead exemption (except for the mortgage, etc.) What is happening is that the title company or refinancing company is making it a condition to closing that the judgment be satisfied. Bankruptcy is not recommended except for extreme situations.
