Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Credit Collections

I was paying a credit agency for several creditors. I paid them off, and received a letter stating that one creditor was taken off and I owed them an amount of $584.37. The credit agency never reported this to me. I called new credit agency and set up payment plans to pay this off. My check by phone bounced. He said that if I don't pay, the customer will file against me and take me to court. What can I do? This was the first payment that I made, and I did not log it on checkbook. I told him next week. He said no, today!

Re: Credit Collections

Never make a payment where you do not have a record of that payment. Send either a check or a money order, where you have a paper trail to prove payment.

If you don't pay, they may send it to an attorney to file a lawsuit. If you can't pay until next week, tell them when you'll send the payment and how much, then send it on that date. The worst thing you can do is promise something and then not live up to it. Bouncing checks are in that category.
