Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Credit collections
My son used his deceased step-father's credit card about 9 years after his death. He signed his own name, not his step-fathers. The charges were accepted. He paid the payments until he was laid off. I did not know about the usage. Now a debt collector is calling and wanting to speak with the person handling the final affairs of my late husband. He has been deceased 16 years. There is not an estate. What I do and how much trouble could my son be in?

Re: Credit collections
Obviously your son committed fraud..etc..but you did nothing, owe nothing..and should not discuss with a collector..But if police get involved, call a lawyer. Do not talk to police but let the lawyer handle it...be careful
