Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Credit company illegally opening an account
To put--name removed--very long situation short,--name removed--loan was signed to have dental work done. The loan was asked to be rescinded within 24 hours. The dental office received payment immediately by the loan company and refunded 80% - approximately $6K of $8K after months of requests leaving us with the remaining $2K allegedly to pay. The charges were disputed repeatedly as the dental office also filed much later with dental insurance. The ''interest free for 24 month'' credit has been accruing interest for over 9 months. After several complaints re: harassment and fraud to both the credit and fraud departments, the loan company closed the account and opened--name removed--new one w/o consent dated in May (and--name removed--statement was received last month) claiming lost or stolen card as the reason for closure and is charging cash advance rates and threatening reporting to the IRS and collection agencies. What should I do now? And, why am I having trouble getting representation on--name removed--case that is obviously on--name removed--federal level?
