Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Can credit company severely harass & "repossess"?

In 1997, I was unable to pay a revolving account on appliances, due to loss of job. 6 months later, I received notice of suit. Contacted the company, they said do not go to court since we are now making arrangements, we will send you coupon book with lower payment and pay until coupons are gone. They went to court anyways, I lost & default judgment was entered. I paid all the coupons they sent. Now, in 2000, with no more coupons, they say I still have a balance, our balance differs and there have been many inquiries, but no answers. After SEVERE (emphasis on severe!)harrassment, and they told me they were going to garnish my bank account and take any other property I have, I told them I would send what I could weekly, the legal rep said, "OK". Next thing I know, they are coming to my home repossess, even tho, most of the $3,000.00 balance is paid off (I still owe $600.00). What can I do?

Re: Can credit company severely harass &

I would need more details on the judgment and their efforts to sieze your property. Your homestead is exempt from siezure in TX. If they are attempting to do that, we could possibly file a claim against them for their illegal actions. Contact me or call me at 1-877-320-5232
