Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Credit Report

I have a divorce decree that states

my ex is responsible for a joint

account that was opened prior to

divorce. He is not paying and it is

ruining my credit. I cannot take my

name off this account. Is there

anything legal I can do to either

make him pay? or have my name

removed from this account? When I

tried to report this they still say I owe

even though a judge says that i dont.

Can you please give me legal advice

on what path I should take in this

manner. All MY past accounts are

paid or in good standing except for

this one account.

Re: Credit Report

The creditor is a third party, and is not bound by the terms of the divorce decree, since they were not a party to that lawsuit.

You can save your credit by paying the bill, and then suing your exhusband for violating the terms of the decree. (Keep copies of all of your correspondence and receipts).
