Can a previous creditor(Bealls) who sells to another company(RJM Acquistioons) try to collect on a debt they claim was due August 12, 1986?

This would be a violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practice Act and the Texas Collection Practices Act. Write them and tell them this information and they should get off your back. Make sure they do not put this on your credit report.

That would be outside the statute of limitations for suit on a debt in Texas which is 4 years. The case is defensible on that ground alone and also gives you a claim against them under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. You should hire a consumer attorney.
