Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Debt collectio law suit

I just received a phone call at work from a paralegal department from one of my creditors. The lady was very rude and stated that I have 48 hours to pay my balance or they are going to proceed with legal action. Consequently she said we are going to use your wages to pay the debt, also you will pay attorney fees, court fees and the judge will order to take money out of your employer. Can they do that and get my paycheck to pay for the debt?

Re: Debt collectio law suit

Your current wages are exempt from garnishment or seizure. However, in a suit on a debt, the creditor will ask for and usually get court costs and attorney fees as well as pre- and post-judgment interest.
