Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Debt Collection

Dear legal,

I loaned monies which amount to $6500. It has been several years now and all eforts to collect have been ignored. The debtor has a significant inheratance. He has recieved amounts exceding what he owes me. How can I capture my money without incurring major legal fees. Can fees be charged to the debtor? Can I start it on my own? Is there a phone number for a brief discussion of the facts ?

Thank you in advance for your timely response.

Regards,

Re: Debt Collection

You are going to have to hire a lawyer to try to collect on your behalf. Suit on a debt allows for attorney fees as part of the judgment.

While getting a judgment may be fairly straightforward, collecting against an individual in Texas is quite difficult; Texas is a debtor's haven.
