Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Debt Collection
I recently got a call from a Debt collector stating they were from a law office, on a debt I owe when I asked if I could make payment arrangements they told me no and became very rude, and stated that I needed to put 30% down of the full amount owed in order to try and schedule payment arrangements and stated if I did not have the 30%, ''we have nothing to talk about'' and a judgement would be taken out against me . they did not give a call back number and have since called agian with a blocked number i had to ask for a call back number and found out it was a collection agency. Would this be considered harrasment and is this ethical, also is there anything I can do to make payment arrangements.

Re: Debt Collection
It is unethical and illegal to threaten judgment when a lawsuit is not filed...Unfortunately you could only collect from them and the creditor by filing a lawsuit..time and expense
