Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

debt collections

A credit card said they are going to sue me for $12,000 if i don't take the settlement offer of $3,000, but they want me to come up with it by the end of the month. There is no way i can come up with that much money. I offered to make payment arrangment , but they said i aldready had that chance. I don't have anything of value. I just bought a house and i've only made one payment on it so far. i have a car that i still owe four years on. I was wanting to know what could they do to me in court. Could they garnish my wages?

Re: debt collections

No, creditors cannot garnish wages in Texas. If you can't pay it, you can't pay it. Send them a letter telling them to cease and desist from communicating with you. If they sue you, hire an attorney because it can be defended.
