Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

debt collector

I got a call from a man who claimed himself as a collector. He said that I still owe $1200 for AMR service in 2002 for my son. However, I don't recall it because we had two medical insurances (PPO) which covered AMR and we always provided insurances for all services at the time. I did not get any letter from AMR for this bill. Now I'm in Texas and this collector told me that AMR contacted in 2006 for this unpaid bill, but I did not respond. Of course, I moved to Texas 2005. In my opinion, AMR should contact me in 2002 or 2003 to notify me of the denial of my insurance so I would have time to contact them. I believe that I AMR failed to do their job. Pls. guide me what to do.

Thanks, Ann

Re: debt collector

I would do nothing. They should have collected from your insurance...and may have. After four years the limitation for collecting in Court has run and they can't collect from insurer unless insurer willingly pays..which it will not.
